Located in Greenville's historic West End District, American Grocery Restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere in which to enjoy an ever-changing seasonal menu, made with products from local and regional farms and artisan producers from within the United States. The custom wine room holds over 100 hand-picked artisan boutique wines from all over the globe, unique quality-crafted wines that exhibit the same level of distinction as the daily menu.
A great dinner this evening with great friends. The cucumber cocktails were simply too good, they went down very easily. The hangar steak was cooked to perfection, and the chocolate raspberry creme brulee was the perfect ending. It's great to see American Grocery packed on a Tuesday night. GO FOODIE FEST! Five stars!
I am happy that Greenville has a restaurant that has embraced the farm-to-table concept, American Grocery does it with passion and beauty.
I have been to this restaurant twice. Once with my wife and once with a large business group (my choice of course!) All I can say is that the food is creative, meticulously prepared and delicious. The service is friendly and attentive. They handled a large group like mine as impeccably as a quaint dinner for two. One of my favorites in Greenville area, or anywhere in the world for that matter. Great location on the West End.
Our first stop for Foodie Fest this year was at American Grocery. We plan to hit a least three of the participants this year. Our dinner from start to finish was exceptional. We started with the heirloom salad which was light and flavorful. Getting a good tomato is iffy at a restaurant but the first course was very good. But the highlight of the evening was the smoked trout. Both my wife and I had it for our entree. FANTASTIC! If the place wasn't so crowed I would have licked the bowl! Very good and FRESH! We finished up with the bread pudding. Need reservations. I hope the other places we go to during Foodie Fest are as good.
I've been with my girlfriends to this restaurant twice, and both times we loved the tapas menu and great metropolitan atmosphere! The manager makes sure to stop by the table, chat and make sure everything meets your expectations...I highly recommend it!
It isn't just that they use local ingredients and will cater to vegetarians (even for a tasting menu!) - it is that every person there so obviously has a passion for what they do. The atmosphere is quieter, the pace isn't rushed, and everything is delicious.
This restaurant has always caught my palate since day one. It's always been 5 stars in my opinion. They are always thinking!
What a great experience to celebrate our friend's birthday at American Grocery. My wife and I started with the rabbit liver on toast points, the spinach salad with the duck egg, and the special lamb sausage...AWESOME!!! For dinner I had the Pork En Veil...WOW. Words cannot describe how delicious. My wife had the halibut...so delicate...perfect temp. The whole experience: food, wine, and service - Just amazing! I can't wait to go back.
I love American Grocery and am so happy someone introduced me to it. I recently moved to Greenville from NYC and was blown away by the quality and variety of dishes. The menu changes frequently depending on what they can get fresh from local suppliers, and you can really taste the difference. Service can be slow, but the atmosphere and cocktails help to extend your patience.
My favorite restaurant, hands down!! Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere! The dining room is small and intimate. It reminds me of a cozy, chic New York City style restaurant. The food is so good, that I wish the portions were larger. Service is fantastic. I have been many times, and look forward to my next visit!
This restaurant was excellent. My husband and I went with another couple and each of our entrees were fantastic! The atmosphere was friendly, our waiter was very knowledgeable and it was evident that the Chef(s) took great pride in preparing these dishes.
The food is close to perfect, taste, freshness, presentation, all awesome! The service was very professional- the only thing I would have added is a little more atmosphere.
I was very impressed with this restaurant. The amount of care put into the food and service is evident. Best cocktails in Greenville.
We have been to other fine dining establishments in town, but this venue is unlike any of them. The food is 5-star, but has a local, low-key atmosphere. The local food, cooked with great technique are just a few key elements to this amazing restaurant. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who is willing to try different flavors on the classics and try some new ones too!
We have been here twice for dinner. Loved everything about this restaurant. All local. Ask to see the the list of local produce etc. used in all dishes. Window seat is the best spot.
