Charlie's slaw- different from most. It's fresh shredded cabbage dressed with our homemade dressings.

Restaurant Chef

Meet The Chef
Edna Ely

Edna Ely could certainly be considered a part of the Charlie's Steak House family. She began forty-one years ago as a member of the wait staff and now manages the kitchen, perfecting each dinner that is prepared for Charlie's dining guest. Some chefs have many years of classroom training and some, like Edna, are just born naturals.

Charlie's Steak House

Charlie's Steak House Menu

Charlie's Steak House has served 4 generations of Greenville families since 1921, and continues the same traditions that have made it a Greenville dining favorite. The beef is hand cut on the premises and is naturally dry-aged, using no preservatives or tenderizers. The French fried potatoes and onion rings are always cut fresh and their homemade salad dressings and desserts will complete your dining experience. Enjoy great food, good service and a friendly environment at Charlie's Steak House in downtown Greenville.

Plastic Table Cloths

Posted By Liz from Simpsonville

I was not at all happy when I walked in to find plastic table cloths, and customers in jeans. The food was not up to my standards and my filet had no taste to it. The presentation was not acceptable for the prices charged. We will not return.

Comfortable home setting

Posted By Lynn from Greenville

Going to Charlie's is like going out for a fine meal but not having to worry about getting all dressed up!!! Don't let the atmosphere fool you because the food makes up for it!!! Good wine, too.

One of a kind

Posted By baseball fanatic from Greenville

I learned of Charlie's as a young boy. My parents were 2nd generation Charlie's customers. The sirloin hamburger steak was great! The French fries are tasty and plentiful. My folks never made us dress up - it was just a comfortable family setting. Charlie and his family were always sure to stop by and say hello. Charlie always had tootsie rolls for us when we finished - neat! The rib-eye is to die for and a nice baked potato and salad make for a wonderful meal. Kay Efstration (Charlie's granddaughter) is the 3rd generation of a place run by the same family for over 80 years. After the meal, I'm not totally wiped out cash wise. There are newer restaurants in town but for value and great food, I'll take Charlie's for the whole family every time.

Best steakhouse around...period.

Posted By ferrellsdad from Taylors

I, like chocolate, have been going to Charlie's since I was a kid in the 70's. My folks would take us and then it was off to the Shrine Club when it was across the street. It is great to know that you will get the finest of everything EVERY TIME. The extra large porterhouse is my all time favorite but even on those occasions I have been bullied into sharing a steak for two it is great. Kay and Doris are a team that can't be beat when it comes to caring for their customers. I look forward to eating there every opportunity I have. And I am training the third generation of my family to eat there now.

best steak in town

Posted By chocolate from Greenvlle

I have been eating at Charlie's since the early 1960's. One of the secrets to their success is they are consistent. My parents ate there every Friday night. We were allowed to come on special occasions. The steaks have the best flavor and the French fries and onion rings are GREAT. You can tell they are fresh and not frozen. Don't forget to try the cheesecake. It's the best!
