Restaurant Chef

Meet The Chef
Donald Hiers

Chef Donald Hiers has worked in Atlanta restaurants from age of 16 but his true training began in 1991 under Chef Jean Banchet of Le Francais in Chicago. As a chef de cuisine at Banchet's Ciboulette in Buckhead, Don was schooled for three years in the classic French tradition. In 1994, Don was invited to Greenville to become executive chef of the Palms at The Phoenix Inn. This position also provided him with the opportunity to help launch Latitude in 1999, where he continues as executive chef. After a brief hiatus in 2006, during which he worked in Savannah and Hilton Head Island, Don returned to Latitude with a fortified style that incorporates regional influences with lessons from traditional French cuisine.

My wonderful lunch was matched by an equally wonderful atmosphere. My server had good instincts for anticipating my needs. The calamari steak was unpredictable and DELICIOUS! I will definitely be back.

Loved the Flounder

Posted By Bernard from Greenville

I always try and get to Garibaldi's in Charleston whenever I'm down that way. Favorite dish is their flounder. To my delight, I don't have to go all the way to Charleston anymore. The Flounder dish served locally at Latitude is every bit as good, I think better than at Garibaldi's. Our waiter informed us that it is served at lunch, dinner and at Sunday brunch. I believe one of the photos above features the dish. EXCEPTIONAL. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed!

Disappointing

Posted By food diva from duncan,

After trying several wonderful restaurants in the Upstate Foodie book, we made reservation at Latitudes in the West End. We were very disappointed in the meal. The menu description did not come close to the food that was served. The calamari steak appetizer was tough. The restaurant was pretty empty with only three tables occupied. Our server was nonexistent most of the evening. With all the great restaurants in Greenville, we will not be back to this one.

Perfecto!

Posted By munch from Simpsonville

Looked up the menu on upstatefoodie.com , saw a Sauteed Shrimp and Linguini dish that sounded great, and made a reservation for the outdoor patio. We were promptly seated and Zach, out waiter, took very good care of us! The food was was absolutely delish, the Tomato Basil soup was the best I have had, the Calamari Steak appetizer was fresh and so tasty, the shrimp dish exceeded my expectations, and the Shug Cabernet hit the spot! Combine all that with the perfect weather to dine al fresco and the buzz of downtown Greenville on a Friday night and the evening was PERFECTO!

Perfect spot for lunch or dinner

Posted By Epicure from Easley

I really enjoy their fried chicken wrap for lunch. My husband and I also like to visit Latitude for dinner for great food in a wonderful atmosphere. The service I have received here has always been second to none!
